CLIMATE CHANGE

September 3, 2012

A greenhouse gas is a component of the atmosphere that absorbs radiation emaniating from the earth’s surface. Many of the gases emitted into the atmosphere by modern industrial processes are greenhouse gases. They include carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, methane, and nitrous oxide.

More than 25 billion tons of carbon dioxide alone is now released into our atmosphere every year. Reports indicate that sinde the start of the industrial age, atmospheric carbon dioxide levels have risen by 40%. Tens of thousands of people have died from air pollution.

The world must come together to confront climate change. If we do nothing we will face more drought … All too often political and economic benefits outweigh long-term environmental factors..

People freed by Solar Energy

September 3, 2012

In the 21st century where man-made technology built the HotPot solar oven which converts sunlight into cooking fuel, the continued use of firewood to cook shocks and shames our civilization!  Every day the sun rises and gives its energy without asking anything in return. . . the next time you look at your electric bill, think of what solar power can do for free! The energy produced by the sun is hundred efficient.  The HotPot solar oven bridges the gap between us and the SUN – there is no more barrier !

Refugee Life

September 3, 2012

Around the world, we see the sincere efforts of many others who are trying to bring relief to refugees who suffer as you (Louise) did for me. To my side, I admire the strength of character that I observe in some fellow refugees who can still smile and laugh in spite of unimaginable suffering.

Food distribution At the end of each month, we receive 10 kg. of meal flour, 5 kg. of soya, 5 grams of salt, 2 kg. of beans, a piece of soap, 750 ml of cooking oil.  We are living in bad conditions which people in developed lands would not even let their pets live in!  We live day by day, as part of a chaotic environment where one could die tomorrow.  I feel worn down by the daily struggle of making ends meet.

WAR:   During the war and pillage, a prevalent motto among Congolese youth was: “you can steal our possessions, but you can never steal what is in our brains.

Thank You!

September 3, 2012

Thank you for your work and sacrifice; you give yourself to those who are outside your group and with who you have absolutely nothing in common. You do it out of kindness, not for recognition or glory. Please just continue to teach people how to cook using the energy form the sun until the knowledge will cover the earth as the water covers the sea.

Thank you very much, I received $100 you sent me thru UNHCR. Since I arrived here in2000, I have never drunk a bottle of coca cola or milk, I have never eaten meat, because of lack of money. To me these things were a dream, now I can also buy a few of them. Today I ate like a king – the dream is alive!
